100% agree with this. Large enterprises haven’t meaningfully replaced human roles with AI. But the headlines make for great reassurance to equity holders.

I do think that startups are already benefitting at a much more meaningful scale but don’t make up a high % of total jobs and therefore do not bring the same bombastic headlines.

In a lot of ways, AI serves as a democratizer for small businesses. They'll gain the most short-term benefit from it and more formidably challenge enteprise.

However, what I'm watching is which big companies are directly partnering with the likes of OpenAI or Anthropic to automate various job functions. Those are the companies I'd take more stock in that their layoffs are actually driven by AI.
